We will be playing at show at the Chimera Tattoo Parlour in Santa Cruz April 1st 2011. It's a featured even in the Santa Cruz Weekly and we'll be playing our new Jay Reatard tribute set.

The website is new again. With the help of our friend Amanda we have redesigned our web presence and brought ourselves up to 2011 spec. I hope everyone enjoys the new features of the website. I am going to throw together some hot new videos to go along with our new songs. We also have some summer shows to announce. We'll be playing in Visalia with the Suicides and also again at the Blue Lagoon. 2011 is the year of the Squid.

In case you haven't heard, Bandcamp is the new best way to release music on the internet. No plastic, no bullshit, they put moneys right into your paypal account when you make sales. And there is no upfront cost, so we are going to put all our future releases onto Bandcamp first and then when we earn enough money from Bandcamp sales we'll use that money to manufacture CDs and get into all the more conventional channels. This is how we do it.

We are going to release our new album Fantasticum on May 1st 2011.

Humboldt Squid is going to release two new records this year. Fantasticum is our psychedelic opus of experimental sounds and songwriting. We spent about two years in Gadgetbox studios here in Santa Cruz exploring new dimensions of sound, moving our music forward in a big way. The result is fourteen tracks that we are very proud of. We will set a release date in the very near future.
The other new record we've finished, Trip Urinal EP, is a collection of songs we wrote and recorded over the summer in our garage. It represents us returning to our musical roots while at the same time taking a giant leap forward. I think our new singles Captive and Trip Urinal are our most powerful songs yet. This album will be release at the gig we're playing with the Suicides and Space Buffalo at the Blue Lagoon sometime in May.

After the surprise of being featured as a Myspace Featured Artist our page has been getting over 1000 listens per day. This has now kept up for over three weeks! We are blown away by all the love we are finally getting. This is awesome. Due to popular demand we have posted some live tracks on our myspace for you to check out. Yayah!

| Summer College Tour |

We're going to be touring around California, Oregon, and Nevada this summer playing every college town with a great line-up of bands from Santa Cruz and Los Angeles. We're stoked to get our music out there. The tour should coincide with the release of our Live record which we feel is the best representation of our work to date. Thank you for all the support.

Squid tracked the drums for our second record in August. Quinn is in top form. He pounds out the songs with laser intensity. We used a 1964 Lugwig Supraphonic Snare which vaporized like a thermonuclear device. It is magic. The material for the new record less obscure than Little Yellow Snowcave. It's no concept album. We'd rehearsed some of the songs in L.A., but most of them are truly new. A Sears Silvertone 2 x 12 amp from the 60's is having a major influence on us. A delicious tremelo sound sound is easy to get and highly addictive. Running a ring modulator through it makes the world shake out of phase. We like it.
